Why this exists
Canadian businesses send billions in SaaS spend to US companies every year — often without thinking twice. That's fine until it isn't. Data on US servers is subject to US jurisdiction. US subpoenas, US law enforcement, the Patriot Act. If you're handling Canadians' personal data, that's a real problem.
Meanwhile, Canada's privacy rules keep getting stricter (Bill C-27), and "our vendor is American" isn't a compliance strategy.
The Buy Canadian movement is growing. But when someone actually tries to find Canadian software alternatives? Good luck. Which tools are genuinely Canadian? Which ones just have a .ca domain? Which actually host your data in Canada?
That's what EhList answers. We find the Canadian tools, verify the details, and score each one so you can make an informed choice without doing hours of research.

- An Eh Score — our at-a-glance rating of how Canadian the company really is
The directory is updated continuously. New companies get added, scores get revised when things change (acquisitions, new data centres, etc.), and stale listings get removed.
The Eh Score
Every listing carries an Eh Score from (1/5) to (5/5). It's not subjective — it's a simple count of five yes-or-no factors:
Each "yes" earns one maple leaf. Five out of five means fully Canadian across the board. A score of 3/5 might mean Canadian-founded and headquartered here, but acquired by a US company and hosted on AWS US-East. That context matters, and the Eh Score surfaces it at a glance.

Get your company listed
If you run a Canadian SaaS company and it belongs in the directory, submit it here. Listing is free. We review submissions, verify the basics, and add qualifying companies within a few business days.
To qualify, your company needs to be Canadian-founded or have substantial Canadian operations. We don't list companies with no genuine Canadian connection just because they have Canadian customers.
How we work
We rely on public information: company websites, LinkedIn, press releases, funding announcements, and corporate filings where available. We try to get things right, but we're not infallible.
If your company's listing has an error — wrong score, outdated info, missing details — use the "Did we get something wrong?" link on your company's page. We take corrections seriously and update quickly.
EhList is editorially independent. We accept free submissions and may include affiliate links, but listings and Eh Scores themselves are not for sale.
Featured listings & transparency
You'll see two kinds of visibility on EhList. Featured means paid promotional placement. Editor's Pick means an editorial recommendation from our team.
Paying for Featured placement does not change a company's Eh Score, ownership data, or ranking logic. Affiliate relationships and advertising never influence the underlying score or factual listing details.
Who's behind this
EhList is maintained by a small, independent team based in Canada. We're not a VC-backed startup or a subsidiary of some US directory company. Just Canadians who got tired of Googling "Canadian alternative to [insert US tool]" and finding nothing useful.
