If you're a freelancer or small business owner tired of paying monthly fees just to send an invoice, Wave is worth a serious look. Founded in Toronto in 2009, Wave offers free invoicing, accounting, and receipt scanning β€” with no subscription required. It's a compelling Canadian alternative to both QuickBooks and FreshBooks for anyone who doesn't need the full feature stack. Payroll and payment processing are available as affordable paid add-ons when you're ready to scale.
